Novák’s Primo movimento on RAI Radio 3

«A rich ensemble of Italian musicians all of the highest level.»
Thanks to the editorial staff of Primo Movimento and to Arturo Stalteri who, with these words, in the July 1st episode introduced us to the RAI Radio 3 audience, in proposing listening to our Balletti a 9 by Jan Novák, recorded for Da Vinci Classics in 2022.
Stalteri highlighted the great sense of rhythm and the ability to mix timbres in Novák’s writing, as well as his popular inspiration, sublimated by his compositional talent.

For anyone who would like to listen to the extract of the episode, which features the Allegro moderato of the Balletti a 9 (it could only be the Primo movimento!), it is available at this link:

Here is the complete live performance of Novák’s four movements for nine instruments:

Thanks again to the “Italian musicians of the highest level” who I had the pleasure of conducting between syncopations, backbeats, shifts of accent and changes of metre. And thanks to Jan Novák for music that is capable of entertaining seasoned musicians and the general public at the same time.
All that remains is to mention (correctly) the 9 instrumentalists: Anna Boschi flute, Paolo Vivaldelli oboe, Marco Bruschetti clarinet, Stefano Rossi horn, Francesco Fontolan bassoon, Andrea Ferroni violin, Klaus Manfrini viola, Lorenza Baldo cello, Angelica Gasperetti double bass, Giovanni Costantini director.
